How to connect to your SquaredUp server
Most of the time you will access SquaredUp DS via a browser from any device. Occasionally you will need to access the server where SquaredUp DS is installed, for example to upgrade SquaredUp DS or access log files.
Azure virtual machines
To access your SquaredUp server running on a virtual machine (VM) in Azure you will need to RDP to your SquaredUp VM as described in this Microsoft article:
How to connect and sign on to an Azure virtual machine running Windows
If this is a publicly facing VM this will be via its public IP address.
Log in using the credentials you specified when creating the VM.
To do this you may need to open port 3389 as described in the Microsoft article:
Cannot connect remotely to a VM because RDP port is not enabled in the network security group (NSG).
As the Microsoft article advises, RDP port 3389 is exposed to the Internet. You should take appropriate measures to make this secure, such as using a VPN or private connection, see RDP Security Explained.
AWS EC2 instances
To access your SquaredUp server running on an AWS EC2 instance you will need decrypt the administrator password and RDP to the EC2 instance as described in this AWS article:
Connect to your Windows instance using RDP
To do this you may need to ensure that the security group associated with your instance allows incoming RDP traffic (port 3389) as described in the AWS article:
Authorize inbound traffic for your Windows instances
As the AWS article advises, if you use 0.0.0.0/0, you enable all IPv4 addresses to access your instance using RDP. If you use ::/0, you enable all IPv6 address to access your instance. This is only acceptable for a short time in a test environment, but it is not safe in production environments where you should authorize only a specific IP address or range of addresses to access your instances.
